Mood - The mood of The Boy Who Dared is fear and determination. The reason for these moods are because Helmuth's story is told in a flashback , and while Helmuth is a prisoner in a Nazi Concentration Camp, he worries a lot. But, before he was taken away, Helmuth broke many laws and stood his ground.
Tone - The tone of the novel is risk. Helmuth risked many things, including his own life, just for things not as nearly important as what he lived for and wanted to accomplish.
Theme - The theme of the novel is mainly courage and standing up for what you believe in, no matter what the consequences may be.
